Very true. I think White's is in heavy competition with Minelab, especially the E-trac. My experience with the old Minelab Sovereign has been very favorable so far in depth and being able to find desirables amongst iron bearing targets. If Minelab has made the E-Trac better than the original Sovereign, it must be quite a detector. I think White's V3 though is a little stronger in the visual interface department, but the FBS (Full Band Spectrum) system of the upper Minelabs is hard to beat in nasty trash laden ground.
I too own a little Prism IV as a backup and I was very impressed with the engineering and interface of that detector. The weight/balance is excellent, tone is good for digital, good target separation and signal recovery, but it lacks serious depth in some ground conditions... understandably for the price point though. But all-in-all, a very likeable, back-packable machine.
