You can run the detector in low minerals with the id off and get excellent depth with no discrimination but to eliminate most small iron your ground balance has to exceed the amount of iron in the metal. The more extreme the ground the more iron is balanced out. I went head to head with a GPX4500 and we both heard the same tones at depth.
