my eyes look at yours
and my finger gently brushes yours
as i take the papers
and a thank you
a small giggle escapes my lips
and my cheeks glow a light pink
my eyes swiftly move to look at the floor
embarrasement flies through my mind
you have already turned around
back to your work
i guess
of my mouth
my eyes feel like sheading tears
tears of loneliness
tears of pain
once again
you working diligently
working hard to make the grade
and no answers
next time
maybe i will say "hello"
or maybe a "how are you"
time changes
past, present, future
perhaps my tears of
loneliness and pain
will become the tears
of laughter and happiness
and the laughter
that we shall share together
for all the times to come
