My Dear Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon,
You wrote many poems to warn us of the futility of war.
But as men have done since Cain slew Abel,
We just keep duplicating the mistakes of the past.
Believing that old lie that you warned us about,
"Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori."
"It is sweet and honourable to die for one's country."
So we keep on repeating the act done by Cain,
Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
When will the cycle end?
Will men ever come to their senses?
Not as long as men keep believing that old lie.
"Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori."
