Martin's Jumbos have never been a flagship for them, where Taylor refined, updated and continue to popularize the Guild legacy of Jumbo 12's with all their panaché and volume. Before I bought my 855, I tried anything out there, as price was not really an object (no, I did NOT look into a custom build!). Taylor in both the then-only alternative mahogany 555, and the rosewood 855 were simply so far out ahead of the pack, there was no real contest. Guild was a "bit" punchier, but that double-truss rodded neck, and chunky baseball-bat feel (and weight) just didn't suit me like it had. Doing barre chords up the neck on the Taylor simply sold me.
But yes, I would love to try this Martin. I suspect it will be worthy and then some! Good thing my GAS is in remission!!
