Hi Steve,
I agree that D-18s can kick it down. I love my new D-18GE with its traditional appointments along with its modern ones such as an adjustable truss rod and a Modified V neck profile. I considered a D-18 Authentic but its real traditional clubby neck profile and non-adjustable truss rod, all at twice the cost of a D-18GE Golden Era, sealed the D-18GE for me.
I think a good D-28 or HD-28 can sound mighty fine too along with the new Taylor dreadnoughts for bluegrass.
I'm serious, Dude! The newest Taylor dreads are kickin' can, Bro!
