Thanks Ken. I thought the HD had scalloped braces...and I guess NOT Fwd shifted, which IMO is a bit strange. I think that's where my confusion came trying to answer the guy. I thought it had BOTH scalloped and NON-Standard X-bracing...FS, in other words.
BTW, crappy banjo frailer that I am, I have been attempting just doing the "bump-ditty" pattern sitting around, afraid to try it with strings yet. I know; crazy. But I'm trying to get that "muscle memory" thing somewhat in place. Well, a LOT of folks took chances on the little Deering "Good Time" banjo at the Gazebo. Many of them NEVER played a banjo...but thought they might like to. So, they're saying "do you play? could I hear what it sounds like?" Well, there was this older dude up there staying out of the rain Saturday, "Craig" somebody. Had a REALLY nice "mongrel" banjo-an old Vega Whyte Ladye pot, and his own Wyatt Fawley neck. He was a heluva frailer. So, I picked up the little Deering and kinda "jammed" along with him (sans picks, which I always wear). I did a little "bump-ditty" wildwood flower thingie. Not too fast mind you, but I sorta, kinda "got it" now and then!!
Meanwhile, these poor uneducated folks think I can PLAY!! HAHAHAHAHA. Like "hey--you should be on the stage." I'm saying "no way, guys." I don't even belong in the same TOWN PARK as those guys. Then, Jerrod Walker shows up, and rips off a bunch of incredible runs, and he's like maybe 17, 18 (??). Well, then all I have to say is "listen to HIM, not me!!" He also took that DX-K2 fake Koa formica Martin, and proceeds to make it bleed the most gorgeous flat-pickin' ya ever heard. Geez, I hate those guys!!
. I need to stick to throwin' out Sierra Hull's used cupcake wrappers!!
