The medium guage strings are key to a strong rhythm guitar Martin dread. I have found the same with my Gibson dreads. Light strings just do not give the power that these guitars are capable of. Norm, try the Martin Bronze Phosphor medium SP series MSP4200s on this guitar or any. Not the 80/20 version but the 92/8 versions. They are catalog number MSP4200. You can kill any banjo with these. Wait until you hear.........
