Thanks for the AP update Ken. I'm posting to a similar thread in "Open Mic" on AGF, and of course I started on on The Wharf but no one has posted to it yet. I imagine Sandy Andina will, as folk music has been her bread and butter for years.
I hate seeing so many of our icons dying, even though that is the "normal" ebb and flow of life. It's one thing when someone is in their 90's, and simply wears out. But sudden acute onsets (like John's stroke and Ahlzheimers), Nick's respiratory failure, Mary's leukemia, Denver's plane crash, etc. Well, that is more difficult to swallow. I deal with death and dying all the time, and I simply don't "sugarcoat" the obvious shock and anger that often lies hidden in funeral homes and gravesites behind a faux-polite facade. It's palpable, and "ok" to feel. With Mary, that damned demonic disease had robbed her of "life," and as is the case with so many, replaced it with a tortured "existence" (like Farrah). No one in their right mind would want her to linger.
I don't know what Peter and Paul will do: Paul is used to being a solo act, Peter? Not so much. A "duo" just won't be even close, and I would think any "replacement" of Mary simply won't happen out of respect.
Another sad day, tho.
