I'm glad I don't have this kind of problem, Sandy. I play almost exclusively this way on either my old D18 or my Hummingbird Artist. I'm never ever bored. I do use fingerpicks for a few tunes. Actually, I perform more often than just play. Oh, I play here and there with others at a bi-weekly jam I frequent and I love music for fun, also. Especially singing harmony with others.
But it's the intensity and rewarding experience of actually performing, singing with those mahogany Ds that just ring so true behind my voice. For the performer, the fun is not how many guitars you have, what kind of leading edge technology you have, mahogany vs. rosewood, 6,7,9, or 12 strings, but how you connect with the audience. When you continue to connect with your audience, when you have a gig that people come and enjoy and relate to what you are doing, how can one possibly be bored playing a mahogany dread with a flatpick? I guess I'm blessed.
