Hi Sandy...... I have the Long Shubb capo on all three of my long necks and I prefer them over the spikes just for ease of use. I did have spikes on one of them but replaced it with the Shubb. I actually like the look of the long Shubb on the neck... the three screws that are used are pretty unobtrusive. But, it's all a matter of personal preference. You can always start with spikes and add a Shubb later if you feel you need the flexibility that the Shubb offers in regards to capoing at any fret.
