For anyone in striking distance: Jim Holler is having the "official" Grand Opening of Trinity Guitars on W. Third St. in Jamestown 11/12-11/13. However, he is 95% in there already.
Added incentive? Richard Starkey (NOT Ringo!!) direct from C.F.Martin & Co. is coming in on the 13th for some "clinics/workshops" and a "concert" as a bonus. It's all FREE! Now, Richard is personally requested for set-ups on a ton of Nashville pros, studio and performers. As Martin goes, there's C.F. (Chris IV), Dick Boak, and...Richard. So, if you're around nearby on the 12th-13th, I imagine the deals will be phenomenal (on Martins, Larrivees, National Resonators and Baden), accessories dirt-cheap, and a ton of regional musicians/players (like the gang from "10,000 Maniacs"--a Jamestown band) browsing. I am slotted in via a phone call from Jim for the 1:30 clinic.
You'd have to live here to appreciate how major a thing this is--so much so, the locals have no idea! Jim is now building his own proprietary Classical Guitars for the top echelon of players in the world. He also has a luthery-thing going with Gallagher, of Watrace, TN. He ALSO has the absolute BEST selection of the above mentioned guitars, AND prices (he'd beat Stutzman in heartbeat--really!) that cannot be surpassed.
So glad the man lives here! I've gone from 5 minutes from his driveway to mine, to 2 minutes (and a short walk!!) from my church address to his on West Third Street. Simply great news for all of us in the "hinterlands" down here!
