In reading the helpful detailed instructions for installing a new head on a banjo, I was wondering how people feel about the tension hooks touching the edge of the head, i.e., the crown. I've been told that if the hooks are butted up against the edge, this changes the sound for the better than if the hooks do not.
What's the verdict?
