I want to rewrite the words to an old John Stewart song and use it for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. I'll use his melody, but my words. Do I need to get permission and if so, from where and how? Thanks.

P.S. My wife made my business cards to read: "The Old Folk Singer," but I wanted them to read "Singer of old folk songs".
Funny how wives get confused. I play a 12 string Seagull, and the song sounds pretty damned inspiring, if I do say so myself.
