Intercom Call

Currently when I pick up my handset or hit the speaker button and then press INTERCOM and an extension button, the line goes live to that intersection and I can basically eavesdrop.
What I would prefer, is to perform the following, but have the phone ring and have the intended party have to actually pick up the line to complete the intercom call.
Does anyone know what I may have programmed incorrectly?
