DS1000 System start-up in progress

Hi,
We inadvertently lost power to the DS1000 unit for about 24hrs. When power was restored,
I cycled the on/off toggle switch on unit and
eventually the square green light was on (well mostly on solid, but sometimes flickered off quickly).
I went to the office handset and lcd display still
says: "system start-up in progress".
Also, I might note there is some kind of small box (3" x 6")that supplies power to the unit, is that
normally just a transformer?
What do you suggest?
