Giving her a fake is better than not giving her anything.

Years ago I got canned, and kept leaving our apartment at the normal time, but I took the elevator UP and spent the day in the roof garden on the top of the building.

I got a new job before she found out.

I did tell her years later.

Also -- maybe yr wife has conned you a few times.
