Problem Updating

I am trying to update a DSX-80 from version 1.3 to 2.25. When I power up the system and insert the CF card and hold reset, the load process never starts. The systems trys to start up but never gets past system startup in progress. When I take the CF out, and restart the system, it comes up fine but with no update. Is there something I am missing in the update instructions? Can I go from 1.3 all the way to 2.25?
