DS1000 Startup Problems

I have a customer with a DS1000 that I installed about 5 years ago that worked great until now. The problem is now that it goes dead (telephones show system startup in progress) and my customer has to go the the ksu and reboot it. Then, it works for a while and does the same thing again a few weeks later. I initially thought the issue was power related and installed an APC UPS but the problem still persists. I have PortaSystem surge protection on the CO side. Never a problem until now. Can someone illuminate me here?
