I am a Schmehl from Berks County doing my family genealogy. I don't know of a William Schmale at this point in my research, but my Great-Uncle was George Schmale. I don't know why he changed the spelling. My line is through John Schmehl born 3-25-1849. He was married to Mary Bloch. Their son Harvey was my G-grandfather. Harvey married Candace Dries. Their son Leon was my grandfather. If you have any information regarding this line, I would appreciate your sharing it. Sincerely, Sharon.
