Just a little surprise for me =)

Well as you all know right after Maggie laid all the eggs that I took from her. She laid 3 more well I let her sit on them not thinking she was going to do well as she was the the only one sitting on them at the bottom of the cage. Well I just went into the bird room to get BamBam for the night and she got up and I had a little pink surprise under her. Needless to say it could not have happen at the worst time for me. I am working 7 days a week 10 to 12 hour days and its very hard right now to feed the ones I have. But we are doing well. Corinna is there any way that you could give me that feeding schedule again please as with me working all these hours im not sure I can get up in the middle of the night to feed the new baby. So I was thinking of trying your feeding schedule for him/her. Just wanted to let you all in on my little surprise. I have to get to bed so that I can get a little rest before getting up to feed everyone and get ready for another long day of work =) Thanks for your help...

Congrates on the new arrivel. Here is what i use and the times and in six to eight weeks your little one should be weened. I use what is called Exact hand feeding formula. You can get it at most pet stores or from Great Companions( web site greatcompanions.com)or Foster & Smith (fosterandsmith.com) Then 18oz can comes with feeding directions. From Hatching to apx 5 days every 2 hours from 6 am to 11 pm then from 11 pm to 6 am is no feeding as that would be the normal time the parents would not feed do to being dark outside. Then once the crop starts to not emiting out back your time to 3 hrs then 4 hrs ect tell you are on the last step of the exact handfeeding instuctions and that should be at 6 or 8 weeks of age and they should be weened. The thicker the formula at 5 days tell weening will back the time of feeding alot once you get to that stage. If you have any more question just let me know and i will do my best to help you out.

If you use the Exact formula you do not need to throw away the extra like it says you can make a coffie cup full then refrigate the rest that you make up and reheat in the microwave tell you use the cup up. It saves time and money and will not hurt the bird as long as you keep it refrigerated and heat up in the microwave(test on your arm to make sure its not to hot or cold)

ok thanks, I feed the ones I have now at 6am, 10pm, 2pm, 6pm, and 10pm. I want to say the ages are 6weeks, 4weeks, 3weeks, 2weeks and then the new one. The oldest one is in a cage and is perching well. He picks at the seeds but he always is calling for me to feed him so I have been feeding him when I feed the others only if his crop has nothing in it. I came up with them times as I am bring them to work with me and its hard for me to stop to feed a baby ever hour if I would be feeding one every 3 hours, one every 4 hours, one every 5 hours and so on. That way I only have to stop for 10 to 15 mins two times went im at work. I would love to cut the oldest ones down but dont know how I would make it so that I dont have to stop working every hour. Thanks so much for any help you can give me. Oh yeah and I have seen the other two babies that are 3 and 4 weeks old picking at the seed also. But both of them still have a few feathers to open before I can put them in the cage with the oldest one. Thanks again for any help =)

If it was me i would cut down the oldest one to one feeding a day. He will cry for food that is normal but by cutting him down to just one feeding he will start eating and drinking as he will be hungery and will eat and drink. I would also cut the 4 week ones to 3 feedings a day then when they turn 5 weeks cut down to just 2 feeding a day. They will cry for food and you will feel bad but in just a short few weeks they will be on their own and less for you to worry about when you are at work. Mine are useally weened at 6 weeks of age. Only a few have gone to 8 weeks. Weening is normally at 6 weeks of age.

it will not hurt him from going from 4 to 5 feeding all the way to one all at one time? Should i try one in the morning and one at night?

Sence he is getting that much formula a day i would for a week feed him once in the morning and once in the evening for a week then down to one a day. I also forgot to tell you that when you cut back on the feeding there will be some weight lose and he will feel lighter. That is normal for them to lose some weight. If he is loseing weight and seems lifeless then incress to 3 feedings a day and then in a week try again tell he is eating on his own.

Ok I gave the wrong ages they are older then I thought. Here are the ages...

Baby 1-(55 Days) will be 2 months on the 22nd
Baby 2-(40 Days) 1 month 10 Days
Baby 3-(34 Days) 1 month 4 Days
Baby 4-(27 Days) will be a month on the 19th

So I think what your saying the first 3 should be on only one feeding a day. So should I cut them 3 to just two feedings? And if so do you think it would be safe for me to leave them home or should I keep bring them to work with me. They are all feathered but just a small spot on the head. But the oldest one has that too. Is it ok to put them 3 in a ac room yet? Although Baby4 is almost a month he/her is very small for its age. That is the one I had to help out the egg and it seems to be growing slow. Eating well I just think I will be feeding him longer then the rest. Thanks so much for the help.

Baby 1 at 55 days should be weened but since hes not start cutting him back to two feedings a day for 1 week then on the 2nd week cut him down to 1 feeding a day until he is weened baby 2 and 3 should be feed 3 times a day for the next 2 weeks then down to two feedings a day for 1 week then 1 feeding a day until weened if you have anymore questions please post
