In larger cities in BC Canada, it is a good idea for more people to take public transit.
Numbers of buses are increasing, scheduling is improving and it avoids parking problems.

It is nice to have a car for leisure time and grocery shopping, though!

Regarding a bus stop at your place? If this will be a problem depends on the neighborhood. You might meet a couple nice teens among the lot of them!
