Male bird traits

prompted by Anne's post below, do males voacalize more than females?

Cause Ming Ming is noisy, but not NEARLY as noisy as Pulsipher!

(I couldnt take 2 Pulsiphers, believe me, I would go nuts!)

This whole thing is still bugging me as you can tell. Next time they go for toenail trims I'm going to have Ming Ming blood-sexed.

I wish I would have had it done the other day. I called the vet's and it doesn't cost that much.($50) Not really, my piece of mind is worth it, anyway.

I don't understand?

Maybe I'm being dense here but why is this such a big deal that you would spend $50 to find out? What does it really matter? Aren't you going to love him or her the same?

Can you explain to me so I'll understand? Not meaning to be insensitive, I really just don't understand.

It's nice to know for sure, I would think. That's why I had Shiloh DNA'd though at that point I didn't care because I had really really bonded with her/him.

Yes, in many cases I can see why you would want to know. Many birds do have gender specific behaviors. Also, if you would be caging them together, you may not want a male and female together to discourage breeding, etc.

But, again, not trying to be uncaring or insensitive, please know that.... I just am saying that Ming is going to be loved just the same, male or female.

He or she is still the same lovely and beautiful spirit- no matter what gender.

NOTHING could be further from the truth!! I am a little angry that you insinuate that.

It would just be nice, in my mind, to know how to relate to Ming Ming.

It now feels strange to call him "him" or "her". everytime I use either one I cringe. Because in my mind---little as it may be sometimes---I am not sure.

You can get angry if you choose, but you are putting meaning into my words that are not there. You are the one who was freaking out because you thought Ming was a boy instead of a girl. I just was simply ASKING why it would make so much of a difference to you. I know that you love her. I do not doubt that. I did not question that. I was asking why you were so upset, because by the words in your post, you were indeed upset.

I'm sorry if you feel this way. I tried to qualify my posts by saying it was just my not understanding what the big deal was. Yes, you want to know. I get that. But, you were all upset about it. I just wanted to understand.

Tammy, we have been friends for a long time. I'm sorry that you doubt me. But, that is your decision to do so. I still care for you and Ming and Pulse very much.

You know by the time I take the birds for toenail trims, I may be more comfortable with finding out the truth about Ming Ming and not need to know FOR SURE 100% (like 98% is not enough for me-heh)

Do you know what a SHOCK it was and still is? I called Ming Ming "my little girl" about 500 hundred times a day...so I am still in shock, to say the least

but I think it may be a conceptual thing, too. Perhaps part of it was Ming Ming was helping heal the grief of Peri's passing so all Tammy's energy was directed to a female persona, not a male one. The psyche has to adjust.
