I have noticed, in the past, that some people call that hot, chocolatey drink that many of us love, Hot Chocolate. Others, Cocoa, or Hot Cocoa.
Then, I read this week that, technically, hot chocolate contains actual chocolate that has been melted. And that, traditionally, Hot Cocoa is made only with cocoa, and not chocolate.
That begs the questions:
What do you call it?
Do you make it with cocoa, or melted chocolate?
And, what if there's both in it?!
To further complicate things, my father and I spoke about hot chocolate/cocoa not long before we lost him, and he told me that the secret to the best cocoa was to start with cocoa and milk, as per usual, but to add Hershey's chocolate syrup in place of the sugar.
I am not sure if he meant instead of sugar or not, but that's what he said! It might be worth a try. If you do, and you like it, just look up, and thank my dad.
