Dgs and I have been working hard on the yard. I have been pulling the tall reeds off and on. I began the year i Moved here,,,,but had to stop due to my medical issue. I didn't get the OK to "LABOR" until mid August. Still it's taken me a while to get back into the strenuous work.
Now that I have the gas mower the real grooming of this place has begun. Dgs and I put in two hard hours of mowing.... we took turns raking stones and branches out of the way, then mowing. We began by edging the walk path, expanding around the pet graves.... and began working out way - adding tree trimming to the action.
Dgs ended up trimming an Oak tree with low branches that happened to be coated with Cedar Pollen. Part of the windy cedar pollen event I posted on.
There was no wind the day we worked out there... instead there were butterflies and bees. Temps were in the 60's but humidity was perfect with the sun out. To say we were tired when we opted for stopping for the day, well, I at least, didn't have to go to work like he did. Instead I took a nap. LOL
This are doing well. Living with someone again has been interesting to say the least. I have never done as much rearranging of stuff as I have since he moved in. LOL
Since he works in a small Bar restaurant, he brings home treats for me... first were onion rings... YUMMMM! Then a chocolate bar, even yummier. Now I have a large box of deep fried mushrooms in the fridge. Thankfully he gave me the microwave. It is much better than my old one. I just need to decide what to have with them.
I have spent a lot of time pulling up those tall reeds. The whole neighborhood has been full of them. I love the ones that grow along the road. They are even beautiful in the afternoon when the sunlight turns them to a glowing, dancing mass of gold.
The birds are still all around but for the hummers. There are two squirrels but they have not been around today much.
There is one Grackle that is hanging out nearby and being fairly noisy. But the dozens I saw last year haven't shown up. Lots of deer are around though. They drive Charlie crazy as they walk down the middle of the road outside the library window.
Mornings are pretty cool, and there has been lots of fog. Very atmospheric. 8-)
No more wildflowers, just lots of cedar pollen. The flowering trees: Chinaberry, Redbud, and a few others have all shredded their leaves. Only the Lantana bushes are as bare as the trees.
The oaks shed their leave in the springtime. Odd that. But they are great compost for all the wildflowers.
Christmas will be very quiet I think. Dgs is not working, but I think perhaps Boy may be.
So hopefully all is quiet. My annual physical is the 3rd. Then I have my eye exam and get new glasses. THEN, I go for my drivers license.
It has been way to long. Dgs and I are both going wacko beng housebound. Once I have my license and the car is running.... I will arrange for DD to come for her vacation. We have had to wait to long for that.
In the meantime I will be repairing a quilt, and doing some crafts for her. Also need to knit her a shawl. I have all that yarn I got for a song that I can use to make squares. Then sew them together.
Otherwise, waiting for somethings to happen so I can go to MN and retrieve all my things. Also need to empty the storage unit I still share with my Ex.
Now that Boy has the big trailer we can all pop over there are get my stuff. Whatever is left will be the Exs. I can't wait to get those two trips done with.
Hopefully 2019 will be a year of good health and the finishing up of projects that have been hanging over my head for years.
May this be a healthy year for us all... and your unfinished projects finally done as well.
We have just over one more week to go. Hard to believe this year seemed to coast along, but now is coming to an end.
May 2019 be a good year for all of us.
Love All Life; Thank You For Posting! :)
