My folks would burst into dance to a song on the radio. My dad and I danced together doing the Swing etc., Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, the big bands, McQuire sisters.
This music as well as Classical, Opera, Jazz fill the air in our house.
Music has always been part of my life. My aunt and uncle played piano... my dad as well but later the organ.
My mother sang in jr and sr choir. As well as choir through jr & sr high achool.
I know show tunes, and sang to all the shows my folks saw when I was small and they and others went to NY and Philly to the latest shows. They would buy albums and sing along.
Yes I was exposed and do not doubt I was bitten by the music bug, very early on. It was a joyful time of my life. It lasted till we moved to CA. Though I would play Ravel's Bolero as loud as I could, when left alone in the house when 13. It is still one of my most loved pieces of music.
Have you ever seen Torvill & Dean dancing to the Bolero at the 1984 olympics in LA? Perfection, a true wedding of music and motion. Its on the net, take a look if you haven't seen it.
Too bad that California was the straw that broke my family apart. I feel I am the only one who survived. None of my brothers are music lovers to the degree I am. Lucky me.
