We had a little rain this week, but not much. Also, it was cold for a few days, but warmer yesterday. It will hop around temperature-wise next week, but by mid-week it is supposed to be hot during the day, with winds early in the week.
Hira has been here just over one week, and that's what's taken most of our time. Even a dog who's easier than some makes a big difference in the family dynamics, and we are being careful about what we do, and do not do.
We don't want to over-interfere, but, that said, both dogs need to know what is and is not acceptable. Hira cannot scratch on the doors or window, and Krypto may not correct her when she's standing near food. It's not serious, but requires a watchful eye and sometimes immediate action.
And, we're also reassuring her a lot. Lot's of praise and petting. But, that means extra for Krypto, too. So, it's busy in dogland, settling everyone in together.
Thursday night I was posting, and had 2 left - trivia for here, and the pet question, when my computer wouldn't connect to the internet. I never found out what caused that, but it was out until just recently.
In that vein, Dh has wanted to get rid of our landline for years. I want a landline. I have pretty much given in as of yesterday, even though I think that it's a mistake. We would still use our regular trimline phones, not cell phones. I admit that, as of this time, is will cost less, but that's all that I like about it. If our power is off, and ours goes off quite a bit, then we won't have a phone after 3 hrs. My landline does not depend on power. Things like that. I'm feeling pretty grumpy on this, but I think that it's what we're going to do.
I won a little on a lotto scratcher ticket. Not tons, but enough for 1 bag of chicken food, and 2/3 of the gas that I needed for the generator. Hopefully, it's practice to win a large amount! The funny thing is, that I don't remember when I bought a ticket last...it's been a while. But, when Ds was working in a particular area that I like, I took a chance and asked him to pick one up for me.
We're keeping water in the polliwog pond, since there's no rain at this time, or in the near future that I can see. The babies are swimming happily in it.
I heard a different sounding bird around the middle of the week, which sounded like a woodpecker. Sure enough, I soon heard them tapping on a tree. But, I didn't see them. Hopefully I will soon.
The are now quite a few hummingbirds. I still don't know which ones will be staying, but time will tell. In the meantime, we just keep their feeder filled. If anyone ever says that you eat like a hummingbird, huff away, because you've just been insulted! These guys eat like baby elephants!
We spent time on the phone with my T.V. satellite co. this week, when suddenly some of the stations that were in SD & HD (high definition) disappeared. It was kind of grueling talking to one particular woman who kept wanting me to do things on the T.V. while on the phone with her. She would tell me to scroll down, when there was nowhere to scroll down to - that type of thing.
In the end, she didn't know what she was talking about, and made an appt. for a tech to come out today, which we cancelled, as the problem isn't my DVR, it's a change that they made to their system. Sheesh.
So, I had to remember as many shows and their channels as I could, of what we regularly tape, because if you had it set to tape in sd, and they got rid of that, it won't automatically tape on HD. And, because HD shows take more space on the DVR, it reaches capacity too quickly. We either must watch shows more quickly, or not tape some of them. So, I spent some time resetting things.
My feverfew is up in abundance. It looks great. Last year it spread seeds. It's a good thing that I like it.
Now that the chickens are laying pretty well again, I am going to see about fitting making an angelfood cake into my weekend plans. That's one of my favorite things to do with extra eggs.
Well, that's all from this neck of the woods. How was your week?
