The lightening strikes were far enough away from our hill to be fairly subdued and more like a rumble. It didn't take long for the lightening to arrive on our side of the hill. It was still fairly soft. But the map showed lots of strikes all around our neighborhood. Which is a large village type area.
I fed Charlie his dry food and fell back to sleep and woke at 6am when Charlie and I walked the yard.
I fed the driveway birds and the Squirrels that lived in the Cedar trees and A's Elms & Oaks.
The squirrels out back were perched on limbs waiting for me to fill their bowls with peanuts.
Charlie ran for a bit looking for any deer. Luckily there were none. But it took a while to get him back to the front porch and inside.
It was muggy outsdie and still is in the house. I gave Charlie his pills and took mine at the same time.
I am now hungry as I walked to the mail box. The sky was pre dawn and there was a cooler feel on the road.
This is my favorite walk as it is Sunday and no one is on the road at 6:15. Last night I was suprised to see the sky was still white and a thin cresent moon was in the West over the Oaks. Lovely. The Cicades were singing so I enjoyed a few moments of solitude walking in the backyard.
I was bemoaning t he lack of rain as everything and I mean everything, including my trees and the Redtip bushes along the front porch, were dying.
I had m oved the hummer feeders to try and keep the ants off them. SO far so good. Unfortunately I have both feeders now on the north side of the porch. So far only one hummer has shown up this morning.
The driveway is full of doves, sparrows, etc. munching the seed I threw out there. I bought two types and they seem to like it alot.
The sky was still whitish when I came in but I just checked and the sky is blue in the west behind the hill.
But there are some large whisps of clouds in the East and south... where the clouds are still very high and thin. They create abstract designs that portray nothing in particular.
It is now 76 degrees but the humidity is 84%. Apparently it will only be 98 today. Something to look forward to this afternoon. Unfortunately Monday will be 100 again. But Tuesday, when my friend picks me up to take me to have my fasting read, It may be 99 then and on Weds.. which would be a big relief.
Charlie & I are now sleeping our afternoons in DD's bedroom. ts small and her AC works just fine cooling us off. In fact it seems ll this comng week maybe below 99 all week. Yeah!
Well Charlie is fed and walked but I need to d the dishes I let pile up yesterday. As for my breakfast I have the last of my strawberries and an Italiam sausage to mix in my omlette. I have enough eggs left to scramble one for Charlie.
Hope you all have a lovely day... if your temps are high I hope you can find relief for you and your pets & family.
May this be a break in the horrid heat we have been dealing with. 8-)
