Answer: Arizona was the 48th state and the last of the contiguous states to be admitted to the Union, achieving statehood on February 14, 1912. But the journey to statehood didn't come easy. The region's harsh climate, limited resources, and sparse population made it less attractive to settlers compared to other parts of the United States. As a result, Arizona spent 49 years petitioning for statehood until, finally, it was recognized as the 48th state of the Union on Valentine's Day in 1912. Arizona was eventually followed by Alaska and Hawaii in 1959.

Brazil derives its name from a magnificent tree that once thrived abundantly along its coastline. The Brazilwood tree enchanted early explorers with its deep red heartwood, which possessed a captivating color reminiscent of glowing embers. Portuguese colonizers, who were mesmerized by the tree's beauty and its value for dye extraction, decided to name the land after the tree itself. They aptly named the land "Terra do Brasil" or "Land of Brazil." It is fittingly Brazil's national tree.
