Good luck with the medical issues.
Ahhhh, it is a Great Dane! That's what K.C. was...and while not the largest Dane I ever knew, she was pretty darned large!
If I had a Dane, I would have stomach stapling/tacking done, to prevent torision. (sp?) We had a vet many years ago...about 30...and his breed of choice were Great Danes. Lovely dogs, though too short-lived. Anyway, he always tacked their stomachs because torision happened too often. He had that situation to the point where he began doing it for all of his dogs.
So, someone who isn't a vet is very likely to get into trouble with it. It's better, I think, to plan it ahead, and consider it an expense of the breed, then to have an emergency which will cost a lot more, or worse, you will lose your dog. I had that trauma with Beau, my Komondor.
And really, other than the usual care, that's all that Great Danes need as far as special care.
Well, they get cold when it's cold, and they do need good bedding for their joints. And, senior care far too early...but you know what I mean.
