Answer: Frank Sinatra served as the inspiration for the name behind everyone's favorite crime-solving Great Dane. The show was originally titled "Mysteries Five," and the dog who would later become Scooby-Doo was originally known as "Too Much." Both the dog and the series would be renamed Scooby-Doo by Fred Silverman, CBS's head of daytime programming. Silverman came up with the name from the catchy syllables "doo-be-doo-be-doo" in Frank Sinatra's hit song "Strangers in the Night." As a result, it was Sinatra's crooning that led to the name Scooby-Doo.
