Liver failure is the final diagnosis. Ruby will be started on milk thistle and SAMe right away, and we're crossing her fingers that she responds positively. Those are the active ingredients in the vet products Denosyl, Marin, and Denamarin. My vet is perfectly happy with my buying the supplements myself and even brought her products into the room to make sure I got Ruby on the right dose.
On a good note, Ruby is a lot perkier than she was this morning. Evidently several hours in an oxygen tent agreed with her. She ate about half her dinner, drank copiously, and demonstrated that her kidneys are fully functioning.
I never thought I'd be so happy to clean up dog pee!
Thank you all so much for your prayers. I really feel they are a big reason I was able to bring her home this afternoon. I know this is a brief respite and that she realistically doesn't have long, but I'm so grateful to have back home and that there's at least a little something I can to do help her. Now I'm off to get the supplements.
