....other's do, but I have found that the easiest for me, and a puppy, is to start with the crate in my room, but I move it out shortly, since I don't want it there; it takes too much room etc.
In the case with pups, I just dangle my fingers down and let them see/lick them if they like, the first 1-2 nights. I've never had a problem after that except....
In the case of the real babies, like you will be getting, it helps to have them a little closer because you need to hear them easily. Some pups are ear splitting from the first noise, others are a lot quieter, at least at first.
My crates are in the next room over from my bedroom, and the dogs are perfectly fine with that.
You are in for an adventure, I'll give you that!
