Yesterday morning I got up to let the dogs out. Roscoe and Sally go outside via the screened in porch which hangs over the woods. Well, yesterday morning, like I said, got up to let them out and Roscoe was over by the screened in area of porch and all of a sudden his back legs started shaking and trembling. Then his penis became really big and hard and I noticed this huge mass on the side of his penis that totally surprised me. Back in the early summer when he got is annual ckup, I was told that he has a mass near his penis area and to watch it to see if it grows. Well frankly, Ive not been able to even feel a mass in that area and yes, Ive been checking for it, especially when I brush him, etce. etc. Well, yesterday morning I thought first-hand that this was the mass my vet was telling me about and that it had overnight exploded and grew to an enormous mass. Well, I rushed Roscoe to the vet and had him examined. Low and behold, vet couldn't find anything wrong, after doing all sorts of tests, even a rectal exam, (poor Roscoe). Vet told me Roscoe is very fight for his age (10yrs) and yes the "little mass" is still there, but hasn't grown at all. My vet explained to me that Roscoe had a sudden "hard-on", yes, he did, and that sometimes this will happen to male older dogs when there is a slight aroma of arousal anywhere. Being that porch hangs over woods and this is runting season for deer, I am (and vet is also) assuming that Roscoe got a wiff of a smell and it caused him to get "horny" to a point that he could not control it and it even scared him, as he went into a panic attack and all his body parts just freaked out (to include his human Mommy - me!) Well, needless to say, I was totally embarrassed and wondered if my vet thought that David and I had been "busy", as my vet knows about our breakup and makeup episodes. Anyway, I can't believe I forgot to tell everyone this, or maybe I was just embarrassed enough not to say anything yesterday, but today I'm over any embarrassment!
