It's The Little Things That Make Life Such A Big Deal!

Randy needs to listen to me better. *sigh* He examined Margurieten, "listened" to my description of timelines, symptoms, etc., and then announced his findings, scaring me as he did. He said the original bump that's been there for 4 - 6 weeks is one "mass." Then he said the swelling in the cheek was another and different type of mass. He wanted to do a biopsy on both masses, but went on to tell me he had no idea, had never seen this type of presentation in a cat, and felt he'd probably have to send us to a specialist to have the mass removed. He said best option was an allergic reaction to something which would resolve once she was put on the appropriate medications. However, he felt it wasn't an allergic reaction and was more than likely some type of tumor. Whoa!
I asked him what type of tumor swells like that overnight. Good thing I asked him that. He thought I meant both the bump & the swelling had been like that for 6 weeks. When I said no, the bump was 6 weeks old, but the swelling had popped up over night, he immediately backed up & said it might just be an infection. So, he put her on Clavamox for 2 weeks.
IF the swelling goes down or disappears then it's an infection and there won't be a need for any further treatment. IF it gets worse or stays the same, he strongly suggests I have the cheek biopsied before we leave for OH. Depending on the results, we would be able to wait until we're in Cincinnati and then see either a general vet or one that specializes in surgical procedures. I'm praying & believing the antibiotics work.
He did do a needle aspiration of boh the bump & the cheek. He was unable to draw anything out, so we didn't bother sending the "blood" off for testing.
PJ "blessed" me with a tape wormy filled poop specimen before I left to go to the vet. So, I took it in for a fecal. They agreed there were tapeworms, so I was given a dose of Donotal(?) to give her this evening.
We've had a rough evening. Fionna gets freaked out anytime I return home with a critter that has been to the vet. She hissed, spat, and was agressive towards Margurieten, but even began taking it out on Baden & Juliette. It came to a climax when we (Samantha is here for 2 nights/days to help pack the rest of my dolls) fed them. Fionna was horrible so Samantha tried to pick her up and we were going to put her in a dog crate with her food and then cover the crate to give her some privacy. Fionna wanted nothing to do with that. She went ballistic. For whatever reason/s, Baden, Juliette & Margurieten decided it was time to deal with Fionna & they all tried to attack her at the same time. Poor Fionna! She jerked out of Samantha's hold and headed for the litter box area in my bathroom. It's in a corner and blocked off to keep dogs out. I put her food back there and sat with her. she growled the whole time she ate. Eventually, she left the corner and secluded herself in another room in a spot the others don't often get to.
It's now 6 1/2 hours later. She is asleep on the cable box in the bedroom. However, she's still jumpy. I have never seen her this bad after bringing someone home from the vet.
