Dixie's chest x-rays look pretty good. Only minimal damage from heartworm is present. There is no evidence of damage to her lungs from either the heartworm or the cancer. The lungs is one of the most likely places for the cancer to spread. Dixie's kidney and liver function also looks good.
Dixie was very scared and rather difficult, and had to be sedated to have her blood drawn and for the x-rays.
The vet is going to get an estimate together to have Dixie's leg amputated. In addition to the cost, I have her temperament to think about, as well as the fact that her lower back is already a bit arthritic. So I got pretty good news today but still have plenty to think about before a final decision is made.
Thanks for your good thoughts and prayers for me and for Dixie while we're working this out.
