Goliath the Philistine was a big man most would say.
When Saul's army saw him they wanted to run away.
Send me a man over, in loudness he would call.
But wasn't a man willing to challenge him in the whole army of Saul.
So this giant would laugh and mock God and the army each day
And not a word back at him would the army say.
They were so afraid of this mighty big man
With six toes on each foot and six fingers on each hand.
But one day, young David came, his brothers food to bring.
Nothing but a song on his lips and in his pocket a sling.
Who is this giant mocking God and His people,David asked that day?
Why don't you go out and put that giant away?
You don't understand they all told David, he's a mighty Philistine.
David said, don't care who he is, he's gone too far, he's stepped over the line.
Let me at him, I'll put him six feet under the ground.
This big uncircumcised heathen is hell bound.
Saul heard the news and had David brought to him that day.
Said Saul, for the head of this giant, I'll give my daughter away
To you, David, she's sure beautiful as can be.
Getting rid of that big and nasty giant means that much to me.
Take my armor upon you Saul to David did say.
Nah, David said, thanks, but take the armor away.
Then David walked down to the little brook there
And took up him five stones shiny and fair.
Goliath laughed at this young shepherd boy as he drew near
But David looked him square in the eyes and had no fear.
Goliath though it would be an easy task putting David away.
Ah, but on this day, God was going to have His say.
David cried out in words loud and clear, you come with your sword.
But I come to you, Goliath, in the name of the Lord.
Then David let the stone go, and it hit Goliath square in the head.
Everyone knew that this was it, Goliath lay stone dead.
David took Goliath's own sword and whacked off the giant's head.
When the Philistine army saw it, they all turned tail and fled.
You see the soldiers looked at the giant and said he's to big to hit.
David, looking through the eyes of God, said my target's so big no way I can miss it.
Ah, with God on our side it makes all the difference you know.
Goliath was a mighty big man in size but by a young man with faith in God, he was brought low.
So always remember that nothing is too hard for God, it is true.
And when you stand up for the Lord, He'll stand up for you!
