A suppressed sigh cut through the silence that had taken over the paddocks and pastures. Like an infectious disease one by one the numerous voices of equine and human had dimmed into the occasional hushed whisper from the birds. An archway of trees, once providing an enjoyable place for the equine beasts to mill until the scorching heat died down, now overgrown by ravenous weeds and decaying foliage shudders as one of the more violent breezes attempts to brake the barricaded avenue. Another sigh sounds and on further inspection the noise is traced to the depths of the vegetation. Nãlu pushes harder against the knotted ivy and braces herself in case the decaying plants decide to give way. She’d come to seek out a new life and now all she’d found was an empty shell of what used to be a thriving land, licking her lips she raises her head slightly and watches for any passing birds, ready to swerve from overhead seagulls. With another sigh she allows her head to sag forwards and starts to hum softly to one of the various songs from back home.
