Kavadas will be remembered for his stewardship and innovative leadership of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of St. Clair Shores for many many years. Father was also a founding member of the Council of Orthodox Christian Churches (COCC) of Metropolitan Detroit. During the past couple of years, he had been on loan, at his request, to the Metropolis of Canada, serving at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Windsor Ontario. Fr. Kavadas is pictured below, in happier times, presenting an engolpion to one of his favorite bishops, Archbishop Nathaniel, in front of the iconostasis of St. Raphael of Brooklyn, during one of his many visits to St. Andrew House. We will let you know as soon as funeral arrangements are known. Archbishop Nathaniel and the entire board of directors of St. Andrew House will sorely miss our good, good friend. Our prayers are with his family. May his memory be eternal!

We were just informed that our good friend and tireless worker in Christ's vineyard, Fr. Demetrios Kavadas, fell asleep in the Lord after a prolonged bout with an aneurysm. Fr. Kavadas had been in and out of the hospital since October of last year.
