The ecumenists on both sides must now come to grips with the truth and accept unity is not going to happen in the forseeable future. The Orthodox leaders of the world should now focus on Orthodox unity. This unity should include discussions with our Oriental Orthodox brothers and sisters in Christ. We have much more in common with them.
I am happy this pope has stated the Vatican's true position toward Orthodoxy. We can finally end all of the namby-pamby dialogue describing the two lungs of the church.
Our ecclesiology and spirituality is much more aligned with them than we ever were with western Christianity.
