"We have concluded that when the principle of racial division (i.e. phyletism) is juxtaposed with the teaching of the Gospel and the constant practice of the Church, it is not only foreign to it, but also completely opposed, to it. We decree the following in the Holy Spirit: 1. We reject and condemn racial division, that is, racial differences, national quarrels and disagreements in the Church of Christ, as being contrary to the teaching of the Gospel and the holy canons of our blessed fathers, on which the holy Church is established and which adorn human society and lead it to Divine piety. 2. In accordance with the holy canons, we proclaim that those who accept such division according to races and who dare to base on it hitherto unheard-of racial assemblies are foreign to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and are real schismatics." dreaming: heirarchical districts 66

Posted by Photini Email on 7/28/2007, 11:00 am, in reply to "Re: Repose of Abp Kyrill"

Some corrections and some rearrangements were sent me ... there was also
some considerations vis a vis the amenability of the hierarchs covering all
typikons in his territory (with consults from brother hierarchs vis a vis
experience re calendar, hierarchical liturgies in the unfamiliar typikon, and of
course, the possible loss of the class of subdeacons/altar boys, which is
supposed if uniform typikons are mandated in any particular diocesan
territory/state, and the uniformity of the English translation in that state,
hoping for a referendum of all the hierarchs eventually for one English
translation at least on this side of the globe.

As to typikon, I asked if there was just generally two basics with variations on
the themes -- St Sabbas and the Great Studion, the two calendars with the
    Chalcedonian churches?

Someone was also remembering a reference to the Antiochians, OCA and
Greeks having already divided up the continent, however, if anyone else
knows of this, it would be great to have a site, because that at least means
there's been some headway into addressing the chaos in America without the
    impudence of lay dreamers.

Anyway, the revised list is below -- stripped of any nominees ... present total
