FYI, All:
David Crumm, the former religion writer for the Detroit Free Press, has taken a leave of absence from the paper to start up an interfaith religion Web site and publishing venture called ReadTheSpirit (http://www.readthespirit.com/). David brought me up to speed on his venture at a lunch meeting yesterday.
Among other things, David publishes book reviews and personal reflections by outside contributors, including clergy, academics, professional writers and dedicated laypeople. He's also started publishing paperback books for the interfaith audience. He is definitely looking for contributions from Orthodox Christians.
David's immediate need is for personal spiritual reflections for a page on the Web site that will be devoted to Western and Eastern Lent next year. (He’s all set for Christmas this year.) For examples of what he’s looking for, see the pieces on Hanukkah at http://www.readthespirit.com/explore/. Deadline for contributions from Orthodox Christians is February 15, 2008. Orthodox writers interested in having their books reviewed should contact David directly at david.crumm@gmail.com.
IMHO, this is an excellent opportunity for Orthodox outreach to the non-Orthodox world. Please feel free to contact me if I might be of further assistance.
