Apropos 'The Greeks', did you see that article about the meeting between the Greek Archbishop and the E.P?
Seems all they had to discuss is who had what right to hold sway over what real estate.
I'm not totally 100% sure, but perhaps just maybe there might be a clue somewhere there about why they are having troulbe getting folk to show up to services where such as they are 'commemorated' so often.
Regarding the SCOBA meeting with Met. Philip and 'The Absent Greeks Hieriarchy' you mentioned: Remember with the new imposed so-called 'Charter' each of the regional under-the-EP controlling presiding administrative officeholders, refered to as 'Metropolitans', need the EP to like them best to be Archbishop after the elderly present Archbishop has had enough.
Now, reading for yourself how the folk overseas think and what their priorities obviously are all about, the 100% sure way to not get named Archishop here by the EP there is to show any sign of fraternity with whoever the EP doesn't like-- meaning anybody who might not think the USA has much of a chance to have more Orthodox in it if they have to be 'under' folk in Istanbul, Turkey to make the big decisions.
Obviously it hasn't worked out so well here for Rome in that regard either, all the bishops that moved teen-boy-sex-craving 'priests' from one parish feeding ground to the next are all still happily in their same jobs-- while the estates people left to fund the Christian education school endowments for their parishes are being raded to pay misconduct claims-- and since the donors are long dead they are not present to point out that their donations were for schools for their grandkids.
