"We have concluded that when the principle of phyletism (i.e. ecclesiastical nationalism) is juxtaposed with the teaching of the Gospel and the constant practice of the Church, it is not only foreign to it, but also completely opposed, to it. We decree the following in the Holy Spirit: 1. We reject and condemn racial division, that is, racial differences, national quarrels and disagreements in the Church of Christ, as being contrary to the teaching of the Gospel and the holy canons of our blessed fathers, on which the holy Church is established and which adorn human society and lead it to Divine piety. 2. In accordance with the holy canons, we proclaim that those who accept such division according to races and who dare to base on it hitherto unheard-of racial assemblies are foreign to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and are real schismatics." Conciliar Media Ministries

CHESTERON, Ind. - John Maddex has been appointed president
and chief executive officer of Conciliar Media Ministries,
a publishing and online media organization of the Self-
Ruled Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North
    America.

The appointment was made by Conciliar's board of directors
with the approval of the Most Rev. Philip (Saliba),
archbishop of New York and metropolitan of the archdiocese.

Maddex assumes responsibility for Conciliar Press,
Conciliar's publishing company, while continuing to serve
as general manager of Ancient Faith Radio, Conciliar's
    online radio and podcast ministry.

Maddex succeeds the Rev. Thomas Zell, who will continue as
vice president of Conciliar Press and editor in chief of
AGAIN magazine. He also serves as parish priest at St.
James Antiochian Orthodox Church, Modesto, Calif.

Maddex is a 40-year veteran of Christian broadcasting,
having served most of those years at Moody Bible Institute
of Chicago, where he managed three of Moody's 35 owned-and-
operated radio stations and later oversaw the entire group.
He serves on the boards of directors of National Religious
Broadcasters and the Fellowship of St. James, publisher of
    Touchstone and Salvo magazines.

    Conciliar Press (http://www.conciliarpress.com/) was
founded in 1979 as publisher of AGAIN magazine. It also
publishes The Handmaiden magazine and a variety of Orthodox
Christian nonfiction and children's books. Maddex and his
wife, Tonya, founded Ancient Faith Radio
    (http://www.ancientfaithradio.com/) in December 2004 as a
ministry of All Saints Antiochian Orthodox Church, Chicago.
Conciliar Press and Ancient Faith Radio merged in July 2007
to form Conciliar Media Ministries as a department of the
    Antiochian Archdiocese.

"John had all the qualities we were looking for: spiritual
maturity, experience with both traditional and new media,
and entrepreneurial drive," said Michael Hyatt, president
and chief executive officer of Thomas Nelson, Inc.
(http://www.thomasnelson.com/) and chairman of the board
of Conciliar Media Ministries. "We are confident that John
will take Conciliar to the next level."

"We are very excited about the opportunities at Conciliar
to harness the power of traditional and new media to
communicate the timeless message of Christ and His Church,"
Maddex said. "We plan on using every tool at our disposal
to accomplish this task with the greatest efficiency and
    quality possible."
