Gentlemen,
The OCL had attempted to jump start meetings between the AOCA and the OCA a few years back. Both they and I were, at the time, puzzled by Met. Philip's unwillingness to move forward solely with the OCA...(this was pre-time of troubles).
As we look back, with the benefit of hindsight, there's need to wonder about the source of Met. Philip's hesitation.
I would be sadly disappointed if precisely the scenario outlined by Herman is not already underway...or will be shortly. Met. Jonah is clearly a "big picture" guy, and certainly a proponent for unity in this country. I've described him as "the Greeks' worst nightmare"...i.e., a convert, spiritual, committed, knowledgeable, charismatic, and
likely to be on the scene for a very long time.
The time has clearly come...we should all pray that an American Church, complete with an American patriarch, comes to fruition soon.
Best Regards,
Dean
PS and if you REALLY want to give Metropolitan Jonah a hand, call your own bishop and tell him what you think!
