Yours wasn't a rant but a thoughtful and knowledgeable reply to my post. In my own defense, I would suggest that 1) preaching to the choir or choir director is sometimes a useful exercise and that 2) we appear to be in fundamental agreement on the issue at hand, except perhaps on the question of whether or not the majority of Orthodox in North America want to maintain our plethora of jurisdictions. Personally, I'm in no position to offer more than an uneducated guess at the answer. I've advised St. Andrew House to conduct an in-depth survey of Orthodox opinion on the subject.
I would also add what Metropolitan Kallistos said in his February 2008 lecture in Troy, Michigan, sponsored by St. Andrew House; in essence, that Orthodoxy unity in North America will require both top-down and bottom-up initiatives, particularly a grass-roots movement among the laity -- perhaps beginning with our own tea parties, so to speak.
