Your point? according to the Kindratch study of Orthodox in America, Met. Jonah is much more honest in his estimate of members than the Greeks.
Instead of such polemics and criticisms why not accept the fact that because of our ethno- centricities, and the fact that many of our ethnics come here make their money and go back home -- we are dying as an indigenous church and it is the OCA that has the vision of permanancy here in America by crafting an American and not an ethnic ghetto church as its sister Orthodox churches espouse. Jealousy is difficult to hide, and we thrive it and not Christian love and missionary zeal. It is time we reognize that we are a Christian church, bound by Christian principles, and here to do the work of Christ and by doing so we become Orthodox and nice vice-versa. For example we love to call ourselves the Holy Eastern Orthodox Church of West America -- and that is pure rubbish -- for that tells the world nothing except we are possible some sort of sect. Now by saying that we are a Russian Orthodox Christian Church we are now giving the correct message - we are Christian, Orthodox modifies Christian --- I will never be Orthodox, I will be a Christian of the Eastern Orthodox Church, or an Orthodox Christian but not just Orthodox and every one who drops the Christian noun after the adjective is not just getting it and this is one fact that is contributing to our uncharitable mind set. It is time to see the reality isn't it?
