St. Vladimir's Seminary will host a conference on the past and future of Orthodoxy in America June 18-20, 2009 on its Crestwood, New York campus.
Titled "The Council and the Tomos: Twentieth-century Landmarks towards a Twenty-first-century Church," the conference will be an open forum on several topics, including the following: Orthodox unity in America; the role of the Patriarchate of Constantinople; and the upcoming pan-Orthodox sessions that will focus on the diaspora.
The conference will also address the role of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), and future options open to it, such as its relationship -- and possible unity -- with several other ethnic Orthodox jurisdictions in the U.S. and Canada.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America and a strong advocate of Orthodox unity, will be one of a dozen speakers at the conference.
The registration deadline for this conference is June 1, 2009. To register and to receive more information, log onto the St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary (SVOTS) website.
