The whoe affairs leaves me somewhat puzzled. While it is, perhaps, a loving expression, it seems to be out of touch with the reailities of the ACNA.
This was his second invitation to "join" is in recent weeks. First to the AOA, and now to the ACNA, both of which are undergoing some significant turbulance. Is there a theme here?
I was impressed when +Jonah spoke of the OCA being a transitory structure, as he seemed to be admitting to the reality that perhaps all the answered did not lie in one small, stagnant jurisdiction. The speech to the ACNA, unfortunately, was a step backward on the reality meter. While it expresses a wonderful objective, there is so very little common ground shared by the ACNA and Orthodoxy, and you have identified some of it, especially Calvinism. As one Roman theology prof friend once put it, "If one carefully looks at the God of Calvin, His works and objectives are so radically different from the God that we know that He cannot be the same God."
