As usual, I must respectfully disagree with Tom Kanelos regarding the Greek Archdiocese scandal. The whole history of the GOA was changed by the new uncanonically imposed charter. The people and the clergy were removed not only from designing, approving, modifying and implementing the charter at Clergy-Laity Congresses as the archdiocese administration was historically developed in the USA, but the people were totally excluded from the administrative, managerial and operational direction of the archdiocese. The people are only advisors. The Clergy-Laity Congress has been made a useless theatrical device that accomplishes nothing but public relations and only imposes the archdiocese budget on parishes. The Greek Archdiocese has surpassed monarchic rule and despotic rule claiming to be a hierarchical church. The GOA only wants the people to pray, pay and obey.
